The heating season brings it to light
If it does not get really warm during the cold season in your home, this can be due to the heating or thermal insulation. In short, if the residential climate is not right there is a need for renovation.
The share of heating energy amounts to about 40 percent of the total energy consumption in Germany. This high value makes it clear how important a good thermal insulation is. Nevertheless, according to the German Energy Agency (dena) about 65 percent of the facades, 80 percent of the basement ceilings and 35 percent of the roofs of old buildings are not insulated. An immense energy saving potential is still slumbering here. This should be taken into account by owners of real estate in a refurbishment case and, for example, choosing a thermal insulation composite system (ETICS) for the next facade renovation.
In the case of boilers, the Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV 2014) has limited the service life to a maximum of 30 years. After this time the heating system has to be exchanged for a newer and thus also more efficient system. With the absolute number of heat generators, the gas heaters have the nose at the front with around 9 million units (data from 2014). This represents a share of more than 40 percent for this technology. At a distance, the oil condensing boilers are followed by 5.2 million and the third gas boilers with 4.4 million units.
